General Information

CONTAINER
A standard ISO container with 20', 40' or 45' length, 8' width and 8'6"/9'6" height, for example, flat-racks (upside and sides open), refrigerated containers, platforms and tanks can be provided. Handling of these containers is performed by means of spreaders and they bear the safety conditions of CSC plates (Current International Convention on Safety of Containers CSC dated 1972 and amended from time to time).

NONSTANDARD CONTAINER
A standard container which has lost its standard features for any reason and which cannot be handled by normal use of spreader even with use of special accessories.
OUT OF GAUGE CONTAINERS / OOG
Any container which can be handled by means of a special accessory attached to the spreader due to its characteristics and/or dimensions of the cargo inside the container.

GENERAL CARGO/MIXED CARGO
Any cargo that is carried in a container ship without being placed in a container and which cannot be handled with spreader due to its characteristics and/or dimensions.

CONTAINER STORAGE AREA
Storage area in which full or empty containers of any dimension and type are stored.

CONTAINER FREIGHT STATION (CFS)
The area in which the cargo in the container is separated or completed, inspected or subjected to other processes requested by the relevant parties and required by applicable laws or official authorities.

CONTAINER TERMINAL
It means Samsunport container terminal site

WAREHOUSE
Structure completely closed from the top and sides to protect the cargo against environmental and weather conditions

HAZARDOUS CARGO
Any material classified as dangerous by the International Maritime Organization under the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Transport Regulations (IMDG)

EQUIPMENT
All kinds of equipment used for handling and transporting of cargo and containers in the port.
DAY
One calendar day (the parts of day shall be taken as a full day)

FREE TIME
Specific period for which no storage expense will be taken.
GROSS REGISTERED TONNAGE / GRT
Gross tonnage of a vessel measured in accordance with the method included in the International Convention on the Measurement of Ship Tonnage, as amended from time to time.

LASHING / UNLASHING
It is the service of connecting or disconnecting the emptied or loaded goods on the vessel using appropriate material.

STORAGE
(Import - Export - Reefer - Transit - IMCO - Empty - Out of Gauge Flat - Boat etc.)
It is the service of storing the goods located in the areas controlled and supervised by the enterprise.
Storage Start-Finish Date:
Import; It includes the waiting period from the date the vessel comes into port, to the date the container is discharged and exits the port by road or ship.
Export; It includes the period from the date the container enters into the port by road or the date it is filled to the date it exits the port by ship.
It depends on container's type, kind, whether the goods are IMCO or not, and whether the goods are out of gauge of the container.
In case wheeled vehicles which are kept in the port and the vehicles which come into the terminal area in order to load/unload cargo do not leave the terminal even after their operations with the facility are over, twice the tariff shall be applied for each day said vehicles stay in the terminal.

UNLOADING SERVICE
(Full, empty, dangerous goods)
It is the service of taking the container from the board of the ship by crane to the stacking area.

LOADING SERVICE
(Full, empty, dangerous goods)
It is the service of taking the container from the stacking area to the board of the ship by crane.

SHIFTING Ship / Land / Ship
(Full, empty)
It is a displacement service that occurs when the container or any other cargo loaded on the ship is unloaded from the ship to the land and from the land to the ship again for various reasons (displacement, short shipment, etc.).

SHIFTING IN SHIP
(Full, empty)
It is the service of changing the place of the container or any other goods on the ship in the same hold or to other holds without unloading from the ship.

LOADING UNLOADING SERVICE
Services of taking the goods from pier, temporary storage areas, vehicle or vessel and loading thereof to the board of ship or lash lighter, stacking thereof in hold or board of ship or lash lighter or performance of similar services and services performed with mechanical equipment and facilities (pneumatic, conveyor, pipeline) belonging to the enterprise or owner of the work if it is permitted for bulk, dry or liquid goods.

DISCHARGING THE CONTAINER
(with/without IMCO)
Port service in which the container is taken from the stack to the CFS (Container Freight Station) and emptying thereof by workers or forklift and loading thereof to the vehicle.

LOADING INSIDE THE CONTAINER
(with/without IMCO)
Service of taking the empty or partially filled container in the stack to the CFS site and loading the goods to the container from the vehicle by means of workers or forklift.

CONTAINER COMPLETE DETECTION
(with/without IMCO)
Service provided by taking the container in the CFS area, emptying thereof completely and refilling thereof in case the goods inside the container are requested to be counted or inspected by the customs administration.
NOTE: If the goods in the container are completely emptied and refilled, loading-unloading tariff shall be applied.

CONTAINER INSPECTION / SAMPLING
It is the port service which consists of opening the container on site or taking sample from the front upon the request of the Customs Administration.
WEIGHING OF THE CONTAINER
Weighing the container by taking it from the stack via transportation vehicle (excluding transportation service) or weighing the container while still on the vehicle.

IN-PORT TRANSPORTATION
It is the port service that occurs when the container taken in the CFS area for emptying or complete detection and said operation is cancelled and when the container is taken to the scale for weighing via transport vehicle and transporting thereof back to the stack.

IN-PORT TRANSPORTATION (In front of warehouse)
It is the service of taking the container from the stack and transfer thereof in front of the warehouse for partial, complete detection or for unloading detached goods.

Terminal - without garland in out of gauge flat containers
Service of taking the container or the good on the vehicle by means of stacker in out of gauge flat containers.

Terminal - with garland in out of gauge flat containers
Service of taking the container or the good on the vehicle by means of garland in out of gauge flat containers.

Terminal - Yacht-boat loads
Service of taking the cargo of yacht or boat on sea or if said cargo is going to exit by land, on vehicle.

COVERING THE CONTAINER WITH PAPER
It is the service of covering the container, which will be loaded for export, with paper in CFS site.

SWEEPING OF THE CONTAINER
Service of sweeping the inside of the container for filling for export.

WASHING THE INSIDE OF THE CONTAINER
Service of bringing the container to the washing station and washing-drying thereof upon request.

CARGO LASHING / UNLASHING
It is the process of binding or unbinding the goods inside the container in order to fix them to the container.

LAYING TARPAULIN ON THE CONTAINER
It is the service of laying tarpaulin on open top containers.
